The Compassionate Life

"Justice" has become a word everyone claims and no one can agree on. A flag we wave at each other, a way to sort the world into sides. So it's tempting to file it away as politics: someone else's cause, someone else's fight, and to keep our own faith safely personal. But long before it was a slogan, justice was one of God's own words; used to describe what love looks like when it reaches the person next to us.

"Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an everflowing stream."

This Sunday we wade into the Social Justice Stream: the compassionate life — the tradition that refuses to split love of God from love of neighbor. We welcome Nancy Movick, who has spent years living this out through her pastoral work at Discovery Christian Church in Broomfield, CO.
