We live in an age of endless customization, where everything from our music playlists to our news feeds is tailored to our preferences. But what if we've done the same thing with Jesus? This message challenges us to consider whether we've built a comfortable, customized version of Christ who only agrees with us and speaks in familiar accents, rather than encountering the full, sometimes confronting, always transformative Jesus of Scripture. Drawing from John 7, we're invited into the dramatic moment when Jesus stands during the Feast of Tabernacles and declares himself the source of living water. For seven days, crowds had watched priests pour water at the altar, singing prayers for rain, for harvest, for the Messiah to come. Then Jesus rises and shouts an invitation that echoes through centuries: come to me and drink. This isn't an offer of a sip or a taste, but total immersion in abundant life. Through six streams of Christian tradition—contemplative prayer, holiness and virtue, charismatic power, compassionate justice, evangelical truth, and incarnational presence—we see the fullness of what Jesus modeled and offers us. The beauty is that we don't have to strive to earn this life. We simply come thirsty and receive. The question isn't whether we're good enough, but whether we're willing to stop standing on the bank and wade into the river of life God has prepared for us.
