Pt 2. Jubilee Vision
This powerful teaching invites us into a radical reimagining of freedom through the biblical concept of redemption. Beginning with a moving personal testimony about the unforced rhythms of grace, we journey from the Exodus story through the revolutionary Year of Jubilee in Leviticus 25. Here we discover something extraordinary: God designed a system where every seventh year debts were canceled and every fiftieth year land returned to its original owners. Why? Because everything belongs to God. The land, our possessions, even our very lives are on loan. We're called to live as immigrants and strangers, caretakers rather than owners. This isn't restriction but liberation. When Jesus stood in the synagogue and proclaimed the favorable year of the Lord, He was blowing the ram's horn of ultimate Jubilee. He offers us release from the crushing burden of self-ownership, the exhausting work of proving our worth and constructing our identity. The central lie of our age whispers that we belong to ourselves, but this supposed freedom actually enslaves us to endless performance and anxiety. True freedom comes when we surrender to our rightful owner and pray with open hands: 'Abba, I belong to you.' What would change in our workplaces, families, and finances if we truly lived as though everything we have is His?
