Shame No More
This Easter message takes us on an unexpected journey into the heart of shame and God's radical response through the resurrection. Rather than simply celebrating Christ's victory over death, we're invited to explore how the resurrection directly addresses five fundamental human struggles: meaning, shame, justice, death, and renewal. The teaching focuses particularly on shame, defined as mistakes that become defining, and how it manifests through fear, resentment, and loneliness. Through Luke 15's three parables of lost things—the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son—we discover a powerful truth about our value to God. These stories aren't just about being lost; they're about being pursued relentlessly by a God who sees us as infinitely valuable despite our brokenness. The message traces a beautiful thread through Scripture, from Genesis where humanity was created for intimacy and lived without shame, through the Passover lamb in Exodus, culminating in Jesus as the ultimate Lamb of God. The resurrected Christ's words to the church at Laodicea remind us that we can appear successful outwardly while being spiritually impoverished inwardly. The invitation is clear: stop hiding behind our fig leaves of denial, busyness, or perfectionism, and open the door to Jesus who stands knocking, ready to commune with us exactly as we are.
