Oh Holy Night

4th SUNDAY OF ADVENT

This message invites us into the profound mystery of God's scandalous love revealed at Christmas through the carol 'O Holy Night.' We're challenged to grasp something that surpasses knowledge—that the infinite, holy God who appeared to Moses in the burning bush, who is so other and set apart that His very presence makes ground holy, chose to enter our world as a vulnerable infant. The Apostle Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3 becomes our prayer: that we would have supernatural power to comprehend how wide, long, high, and deep God's love truly is. This isn't just theological information; it's a life-altering reality. The message confronts our insulating lies—the 'yeah, buts' that keep us from believing we're truly loved. We see how addiction, shame, and our own poor choices create distance, yet Christmas declares that while we were yet enemies, Christ came running. The holy God crossed an infinite chasm to help us, taking on flesh to free us from the fear of death and the chains of sin. This isn't distant theology—it's personal. Jesus knows our weakness intimately because He became like us. Now He intercedes for us, not condemning but advocating. The call is clear: as we grasp this love together, we're invited to pray for others who need to experience this breakthrough, to be a community rooted in love that makes God's presence visible in our world.
